Surgery
At Tullyraine Equine Clinic we offer a vast range of elective surgical procedures from castrations to arthroscopy. Our in-house vets perform highly advanced procedures. For more specialist surgeries, we collaborate with the University of Dublin Veterinary College (UCD) and other specialists. We bring these surgeons to Tullyraine, reducing your horse’s travel.

Pre-Purchase Examinations
Our vets perform in excess of 500 vettings each year. These include PPEs for local and foreign buyers as well as for auction sales. Inge and Hugh are on the Tattersalls and Cavan vetting panels. Hugh is also on the Goresbridge and Goffs (UK&IRE) panels. Each PPE is tailored to the buyer’s requirements, with radiography, endoscopy and ultrasonography as potential add-ons.

Dentistry
We offer a referral service for advanced dental procedures. We provide
routine dental care for existing dentistry clients and we happily collaborate you’re your recognised Equine Dental Technician. We support them where they need the help of sedation and by providing a referral option where they need veterinary opinion or expertise. Tullyraine Equine Clinic has a fully equipped and dedicated dental suite.

Reproduction
Our team has the expertise and experience to support you with your mare and foal’s reproductive needs. We have dedicated stables, examination stocks and turn out away from the main clinic at Tullyraine House Stud, situated next door. Mare and foals can board to prepare them for walk-ins at stud, or for covering with artificial insemination.

Diagnostics
We have an extensive range of high-quality diagnostic imaging and laboratory tools to aid us in reaching accurate diagnoses. Most of these are portable and can be used in your yard as well as at the clinic. We collaborate with referral practices in ROI should MRI or CT Imaging be required. Our in-house lab offers quick results for a whole range of tests, and we work with external labs where required.
– Radiography: portable and in-house systems
– Ultrasonography: ‘Musculoskeletal, airway, cardiac, ocular and reproductive ultrasound imaging available. Doppler is also available.’

Treatments
Disease and condition specific treatments are available at Tullyraine Equine Clinic. These range from medical treatments to biologics and surgery to shockwave. Once we have a diagnosis, we can prescribe the right treatment for your horse. We collaborate with certified physiotherapist, registered farriers and rehabilitation centres to ensure your horse’s optimal recovery.

OOH Emergencies / Referrals
We are proud to continue to provide our own Out-Of-Hours Emergency service for own clients and referrals by local vets. Our vets take turns to cover the evenings and weekends, so you will always see a familiar face. Within an accepted range we can do OOH yard visits, but some cases will need to attend Tullyraine Equine Clinic to be seen. This is always the case for referrals and some serious wounds, foaling and colic cases.
We can take inpatients, but we are not a hospital. This means that whilst we can manage the majority of emergency cases at Tullyraine Equine Clinic, some intensive care cases may need to be referred to a hospital with 24/7 nursing staff. We can discuss this with you after assessing the horse.
If your horse’s condition is ‘urgent’ rather than a true emergency, we will give you an appointment on the next working day. This ensures prompt assessment without the OOH expense.
